This is my attempt to review the newest Krasinski film, A Quiet Place part 2.

Disclaimer: I am not a professional and not so qualified but hey this is an audience review if you will!

(I'm minoring in film studies if that can add my qualification a bit)

SO.

A Quiet Place part II.

A really really really good film, in my opinion. The epitome of sound usage on film. How so?

The sound takes us into perspectives, which I think is incredibly genius. Mise-en-scene wise, I noticed a really nice mixture between the presence of the hearing device and the diegetic sound when the scenes were shot from Regan’s perspective. I don’t know how to describe it, but the scenes that were shot from Regan’s perspective are the most immersive ones (which might be due to the sounds, I think?). ALSO, kinda reminds me of Lost Highway (dir. David Lynch, 1997) where the use of sound REALLY help us as the audience to expect what will happen next.

I also noticed a repeated use of the colour red and blue, but I can’t pinpoint the meaning behind that yet, but I think it certainly is something to think about.

Also.

The parallels of the scenes are super well-done.

I think the most interesting part of this film is how small details kind of impacts the whole narrative, which is super fascinating. So if you do watch the film, do pay attention to the small details. Gestures. Dialogues.

I have watched the film twice already. It is a brilliant film, indeed.

((this is not my best review but I do need to start somewhere but the main message is that this film is really good pls go watch it if you haven’t))
